Red Knights Ontario 12

Elimination Draw

April 5th, 2013

Niagara Falls, On. Canada

April 16th, 2013

Brother Knights

Red knights Ontario 12 recently held their very first Elimination Draw to raise funds for two great organizations the Salvation Army Niagara Falls, Ontario and Camp Bucko a camp for children that have been injured as a result of a fire. I am very grateful to members of Ontario 12 for their support and the many people who joined us to make our very first elimination draw such a huge success.

Many of us have enjoyed a great career in the fire service or have been part of the fire service in other capacities and when we have an opportunity to give back to our communities as a firefighter or a member of the Red Knights it leaves you with a good feeling that you made someone's day a bit brighter and we look forward to your continued support again next year.

Thank You

Wylie Welsh, President

Ontario 12

On January 12th 2013 President of Pa.12 Brian Sames and Treasurer Bob Heitz went to the National Fire Academy in Emmittsburg, Md. to present them with a check for $6,000 from monies that were raised during the Red Knights International Convention in Gettysburg,Pa. August 2012. We presented the check to Ron Siarnicki executive director of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. The money will go towards helping survivors and there familes while at the academy for memorial weekend and also for a camp that they started to help the children.

Other money that was raised will be donated to a few other charities, one will be the local burn center in our area and we will be giving a check to the International board for upkeep at our Red Knights memorial.

We would to thank Thank all who attended the 2012 convention and helped to make it the largest convention ever held.

PA-37                    $4000.00              Officer Costello Benefit Ride

This ride was organized by members of PA-37 to assist with medical bills for Officer Mark Costello. Mark is a good friend to a few of our members and when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer in 2012 having never smoked in his life, we had to assist. Even though the weather didn’t cooperate with us that day, we still raised $4000.00 to help in any way we could.

This year, 2012, on March 31st, RKMC PA 8 in cooperation with Rock Bottom Brewery in Homestead (Pittsburgh), hosted our first  motorcycle benefit ride.  The Fallen Hero's Ride raised money for the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation this year, and we turned over $3,725 in proceeds to the Foundation, which included all of our registration fees, and money from T-Shirt Sales, Collectibles Drawing, and 50/50 Drawing.
We ran our Ride in conjunction with Rock Bottom Brewery Annual "Tapping of the Fire Chief Ale", which is a month long event, in which a portion of every pint of Fire Chief Ale sold, also went to the Foundation.

I wanted to take a second to send you a shot of some of our members presenting a check to the Hospice of Lancaster County from our benefit rides.  Please send it on to whoever needs to see it or know about our chapter and donating to local charities.
Thanks,

Steve Kintzler
President

What a surprise we had at our business meeting in October! New England Ride for Kids Task Force Leader David Odess attended our meeting and presented us with a 2012 plaque for being the #3 group fundraiser for the 2012 New England Ride. What the big surprise that he shared with us was that we were the top Red Knights fundraiser for the Ride for Kids in 2011 for all the rider around the country! He presented the chapter
with a certificate from the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. When I accepted the certificate I told David I was very proud of our members, and that we are always honored to participate in the ride.

Here is an excerpt from the PBTFUS "Helping Hands" newsletter from this summer, that lists us for their 2011 tally sheet. http://www.rk-mass2.org/Summer_2012_Helping_Hand.pdf
