Chaplain

Matthew “Matt” Mattera
International Chaplain — Red Knights International Firefighters Motorcycle Club

As a lifelong servant both on the road and off, I am honored to serve as International Chaplain for the Red Knights. My journey spans over 30 years in public service — first as a police officer with the North Wildwood Police Department for 25 years, retiring in 2022 as a Sergeant, and since 1994 as a volunteer firefighter, currently as Safety Officer with Green Creek Fire Co. I’m a Charter Member of Red Knights NJ Chapter 31 since 2006 and have held many roles within the Red Knights organization. My current ride of choice, a 2018 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Ultra.

With our Club’s motto “Loyal To Our Duty” in mind, I walk alongside each member offering counsel grounded in faith, brotherhood, and the unique challenges faced by those who ride and serve. I’m blessed to stand with the Red Knights community in promoting motorcycle safety, supporting charitable initiatives, honoring the fallen, and fostering a culture of mutual care and respect.

In my role as Chaplain, I would like to focus on:

  •         Supporting members in times of loss, transition, stress, and growth.
  •         Encouraging spiritual resilience and personal wellbeing — on the road, at the station, and in life.
  •         Engaging with Chapters to build unity, purpose, and a meaningful presence for the Red Knights among firefighters and riders worldwide.

Whether you’re preparing for your first ride, standing at shift’s end, or navigating the unknown ahead — I’m available as a resource, a prayer partner, and a fellow Red Knight. Together, we honor tradition, serve our community, and ride with purpose.
